Cold Lake’s Kevin Desjarlais took control of the Wagons on Day #1 at the Vegreville Country Fair and never looked back, earning his second A.P.C.C.A. Show Buckle of the season ...

After cruising to what could very well be a Wagons’ track record in Vegreville – a 64.79 – on Day #1, Desjarlais earned another 1st on Day #2 and a 3rd on Championship Saturday to lock down the top Three-Day Total Time of 198.76

He talks about Thursday’s lightning-quick run, admitting that resting his outfit ahead of the Vegreville Country Fair may have been the secret.

Desjarlais has now earned show wins in Vegreville and Vermilion this season and credits success this year to a couple of changes to his outfit.

He also adds that day-to-day consistency is what can make or break a driver’s year.

Neil Salmond of Weekes, Saskatchewan finished 2nd in the Wagons’ aggregate with a 202.07 while Mayerthorpe’s Louis Johner earned 3rd with a 202.27.

Meantime, Kelsey’s Chester Blatz won the Chariots’ Buckle with a Three-Day Day Total of 199.54.

Desjarlais finished 2nd in the Carts with a 199.93 while Eckville’s Martina Hubl rounded out the Top Three in the Chariots with a 200.77.

The Alberta Professional Chuckwagon and Chariot Association will get some much deserved time off ahead of their next show in Bashaw in two-week’s time.
